How to Refer Clients to the El Paso Child Guidance Center
If you are a professional and would like to make a referral to the El Paso Child Guidance Center the following information should be helpful.
Eligibility
The El Paso Child Guidance Center serves individuals of all ages.
The person with legal rights to bring the child to therapy should call us directly to begin the process of entering the child into treatment.
In order to qualify for reduced fees (sliding scale) on the basis of income and the number of people in the home, we require that the client bring certain documents to registration. Registration documents include:
- Insurance or Medicaid Card
- The child’s birth certificate and the parents ID card
- Social Security Card
- A copy of legal custody papers (to make sure we have the correct authorization to provide services for a child)
- A utility bill (electric, water, etc) for proof of address
- Proof of income (check stub, income tax forms, unemployment benefits, etc)
Services
As an outpatient mental health facility we are able to offer a range of mental health services including psychiatric
evaluations, individual, family, and group therapy. However, we are not an emergency facility and therefore do not
offer that type of immediate counseling or psychiatric care.
Families who have children with long term psychiatric needs can best be served by facilities who have access to emergency and psychiatric care around the clock.
Although we offer psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up, this service is only available to those children who are already in individual or family counseling. However, if a child receives medication monitoring through our agency they may only receive it so long as the child and family continue in therapy.
Cost
The cost of services to a child and his or her family varies, however we work with families to make our services affordable.
Availability
The Center is open five days a week and its hours of operation for appointments are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday.
Unfortunately our agency sometimes has a waiting list for those children and families needing our services.
